Why Give to Westminster House:

Westminster House is a non profit society that provides addiction recovery services to adult women. We are a small organization and that means 95% of your donation goes directly to fund the initiative that you choose. We rely solely on gifts and donations to provide funding for our OnGoing Recovery aftercare programs that are free for all alumni of our program and their families. Westminster House is a public and private centre and our goal is to continue to provide world class treatment at a cost that is affordable to most families who don’t qualify for a funded bed at Westminster House.

1. Leave a gift in your will (bequest)

A bequest is the most common type of future gift – is a commitment made through your Will to be distributed by your estate upon your death. A bequest may be a specific piece of property, sum of money, or a portion of your estate and will reduce your estate taxes. You can give as much or as little as you want and you can always change your mind. Just add a phrase about your intention using our legal name and Canadian charitable number:

Westminster House Society – Charity number 10755 3596 RR0001

A residual Gift is a percentage of what’s left of your estate after you take care of your loved ones. This protects your intent while ebbing and flowing with inflation or any other change.

To help you ensure your Will is worded correctly to clarify your intentions so your gift is used as you wished, here is suggested wording:

I give a gift to Westminster House – Charity number 10755 3596 RR0001 the sum of $_______.

I give a gift to Westminster House Society – Charity number 10755 3596 RR0001, ____ per cent of the residue of my estate.

2. Donate a life insurance or retirement plan

You can name us as the owner or beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement plan. Contact your retirement plan administrator or life insurance company and complete the appropriate beneficiary designation form.
