The first time that I went there was as a client of Westminster House Society, where I have learned how to rebuild my life and relationships. As a client, I was grateful for the opportunity to strengthen existing connections and make new ones with other women also recovering their lives from addiction. Together we participated in workshops where I learned how to manage my anxious thoughts through mindful meditation. I’m proud to say this is still something that I practice on a daily basis as a part of my recovery program.
I was privileged to return to Rainbow Lodge Retreat for the second time with my father, who because of my struggles with addiction, I haven’t felt close to in a very long time. But, in the peaceful, natural and relaxing environment of Rainbow Lodge I had the chance to connect with him in a way that I never had before – fishing, meditating and eating beautiful, delicious and nutritious food together. I thank Rainbow Lodge for providing the space for us to make new memories in recovery as father and daughter. It was a time with my Dad I’ll never forget.
In recovery, I am in the process of rebuilding my physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I’m grateful I had the opportunity to experience so much personal recovery surrounded by nature to recharge my batteries and connect with my Higher Power. I especially loved how the whole time I was at Rainbow Lodge, I felt right at home.
I can’t wait to go back!
