When I came to Westminster House I was a broken shell of a human being, my addiction had taken me to a place that I never thought I would go. I was hurting and did not believe in myself. But I knew that I wanted to get better. I was introduced to a group of like-minded women whom I was able to share my laughter and tears with, they loved me until I could love myself. The healing began…

The counsellors and staff at Westminster House were the first female role models I have had in my life. They showed me what a respectable woman in recovery looked and acted like. I wanted to be just like them and they were able to get through to me in a way that no one else in my life had. I transformed from a frightened little girl that did not know how to live, to a woman with goals and aspirations in life.

After I completed the program I was gifted with the beautiful opportunity of education. It was amazing! I went back to school for addictions counselling. I also began working at Westminster House as a client care worker. After working in that position for almost two years, I was offered the position of Case Worker. This was a dream come true. I love what I do, and I have a sense of purpose in my life today. I owe my life to Westminster House, thank you to the house and everyone that has been a part of my recovery.
