GENERAL INFORMATION
Recovery is not an event, but a lifetime journey. Along this path, the help and counsel of Alumni and the fellowship of others in recovery can provide invaluable support and direction. Westminster House facilitates this support and encouragement, connecting new graduates of the program with established graduates in order to start the integration process back into society. Through weekly group sessions, meetings, workshops, community and fundraising events, Alumni are encouraged to draw on rich resources to navigate the recovery process.
Alumni of Westminster House can access the following services at no charge:
- Group sessions on an outpatient basis - Tuesday to Friday
- Alumni group every Tuesday evening from 7:30pm to 8:30pm
- The Alumni group “Facebook” page
- Ongoing support from Westminster House staff
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Westminster House relies on volunteers to help provide care and enhance the treatment experience of the women in the recovery-based program. In the past year, Westminster House has received more than 5,000 volunteer hours donated to the program.
Returning Alumni make up a significant part of the volunteer network at Westminster House, spending time mentoring current clients, exchanging stories, lending a supportive ear, or by simply being a shoulder to lean on.
Volunteers have also participated in community events at Westminster House, working with residents on beautification projects, painting and clean-up jobs, and other facility improvement activities.
