Expressive Arts Therapy encompasses all the arts. Music, movement, writing, painting, and clay are some. During a therapy session, these modalities often work together by building upon each other. Art experience is not necessary. The most important thing is to work from the heart. The process is just as important as the product. During the process, a shift into a different realm of consciousness can occur. This enables the client to see issues in a new light.

The focus for each session is to have the clients connect with their authentic selves and build on their strengths. Group exercises offer opportunities for laughter and/or tears in a safe place. Healthy communication and supportive relationships are also practiced. The process and time spent creating art can be both grounding and calming.

I am passionate about working with the women at Westminster House and feel honoured to have this opportunity to share in supporting them in their recovery process.
